A French Bronze of a Sphinx, Late 19th Century

A super French late 19th century bronze of a Sphinx on a marble base. In the Egyptian Revival taste, it was probably a popular piece for the 19th century travellers on the Grand Tour. The Sphinx is a mythical character with the body of a lion and the head of a man. The bronze is well cast and the patination is good. There are some chips to the marble base and some age related wear, otherwise it is in good condition.

It measures 13cm high x 8cm wide x 22cm long.
